SUDARSANA CAKRA

Yaga may, additionally, mean to them that this is the moment in their initiation when, at least by following the example of their acarya, they learn how to do sacrifice by receiving instruction in the proper way to offer daily honours to a household image of Vishnu; in this case, they are presented with an image of the Lord and are given instructions for sacrificial worships of Him in Puja routines.

These five steps of the Pancasamskara ritual done, the novices emerge from the liturgical event as new individuals, full-fledged members of the Srivaisnava but also protects him from all ill-effects even from the god of death Yama. By this way Sudarsana is considered to be a protector.

In Laxmi tantra chapter 31 deals with the Sudarsana. Laxmi claims that Sudarsana is the Kriyasakti of her own, which takes the form of a person and she originates the same from Surya, Soma and Agni. It can be noted that the Beejamantra of Sudarsana is Sahasrara, which contains the letters as, a, ha and ra, which represent Soma, Surya and Agni. The Soma-form gratifies; Agni-form punishes and Surya-form brings forth life to the devotees.

The development of Sudarsana cakra may have a link with the Ksetrapala. Generally, Ksetrapala in Hinduism is a protector of a territorial unit of land, namely a home, village, or a temple. A stone marked by a cakra in all four sides at Srivilliputtur; is called by the priests as Ksetrapala. It is situated to the right side of the main temple and at the entrance of the Sudarsana temple.
