Kalyana Katta

Tonsure and Tirumala go together! Devotees vow and offer their hair to the Lord - a symbolic sacrifice of the ego. Tonsure is done at Kalyana Katta, a massive four floor building operating round the clock. Fee for tonsure near the cottages is Rs.10/- per head. Tonsure is followed by a holy dip in the Pushkarini and the devotees then proceed to the Temple for darshan.

TTD has a Publication Division publishes books on various topics in different languages, audio and video cassettes and free pamphlets. The books are heavily subsidised and are affordable for all sections of devotees. These are available at TTD Book Stalls in the railway station, on G. Car Street, Tirupati and at RTC bus stand on Tirumala. Audio and video cassettes are available in the Temple Complex.
